Keith Cross
Keith Cross, nationally acclaimed teacher & choreographer, will again be teaching his inspiring styles of dance at Dancescape. He believes great dancing is a blend of good training in all the elements of dance. Together ballet, modern, and jazz dance training has helped him to create a new and fresh way of utilizing choreography.
Keith is the Founder of Teundu Inc., Artistic director of Texas Dance Theatre, and Master teacher for Cross Jazz Tours. His television credits include Houston Grand Opera's "Temonisa" and NBC Chicago Emmies. He has worked with such talents as Debbie Allen, Maurice Hines, James Brown, and Gus Giordano. He was recently named one of Houston’s Movers and Shakers of 2011.
Erica Blumenthal
Erica returned to Houston in August of 2008 and rejoined the Dancescape by Joyce staff.
Erica has danced professionally with the Sandra Organ Dance Company, Contemporary Ballet Dallas, the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, the Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble, Joan Karff’s New Dance Group, Psophonia Dance Company, and the Houston Grand Opera. She has performed in venues throughout Houston, including the Metropolitan Opera House, Miller Outdoor Theatre, The Wortham Theatre Center, The Hobby Center for Performing Arts, Barnevelder Movement Arts Complex and Diverse Works Artspace.
Erica began her studies at the Houston Ballet Academy under the direction of artistic director Ben Stevenson and academy principal Clara Cravey and was chosen to dance in the Houston Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.
In addition Erica has many years of experience teaching ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical and modern dance throughout Houston and Dallas.
Shanette Thorpe
Shanette is an experienced Dancescape instructor. She has a dance degree from Sam Houston University. She teaches tap, jazz, and hip hop.
Renee Taylor
Renee teaches 3-4-year-old combo classes and 5-7-year-old combo classes and is looking forward to another exciting year with these young dancers.

Joyce Beck, Director
Joyce is a certified member of Dance Masters of America and The South Texas Association
of Dance Teachers, Inc. She has trained locally with Suzanne Banbury and the The
Houston Ballet Academy. She also trained in New York City and continues to return
semi-annually to continue her dance education. Ms Joyce has been directing and
operating the Dancescape by Joyce Studio at 2014 East Broadway in Pearland for the
past 16 years and previously had a school in Frie
ndswood for 10 years.
Lauren Beck
Lauren continues to teach for Dancescape by Joyce. She is an experienced performer and instructor. She is teaching tap, 3-4- year-old combo in ballet, tap, and tumbling, and a jazz/tap combo.
Sarah Bivens
Melissa Needler
Melissa Needler of Pearland, Texas, has returned to Dancescape by Joyce. She was a student at the studio for 15 years and a teacher for two. She graduated from Pearland High School in 2006 and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance from Sam Houston State University in December 2010. Melissa danced professionally for Noblemotion Dance for two years. During that time, the company performed in New York, Houston, Austin, Huntsville, and Salt Lake City, Utah. She has studied the ancient work of Michio Ito from his original students in Salt Lake City. Melissa has been fortunate to return to her hometown and pick up what she loves most, teaching the students.




Kelly Juneau
Kelly danced with Dancescape by Joyce from the age of 4 until she graduated from high school. After graduation, she studied theater and dance at Sam Houston State University; during her studies there, she interned at Disneyland. Kelly has performed in numerous musicals and dance productions, including playing the Wicked Witch of the West in a musical production of The Wizard of Oz and Queen Aggravaine in the dance production of The Princess and The Pea. In addition to teaching for Dancescape, Kelly also currently teaches in the Mad Science program, and in her spare time, she performs improvisational comedy with New Movement Houston.
